Mistaken Identity

Issue: The client does not get along with his mother. He felt that she was always critical of him and was particularly aggressive towards him during his childhood.

During the PLR session, the client regressed to early 1900s and found himself walking through a village lane. It was a small village in Rajasthan and the lane was adorned by hutments made of mud and dried grass had been used for roofs. He was wearing a Rajasthani dress usually worn by local villagers. As he was walking down that lane he heard a scream. A call for help. He rushed towards the sound and saw that one young boy was being beaten up mercilessly by 4-5 men. That boy was bleeding profusely and feebly calling for help. The client shouted at and ran towards them. Upon hearing his voice and seeing him approach those men ran away leaving the badly injured boy writhing on the ground. The client reached the injured but any tried to lift him up and looking around to see if anyone was there to help. As he was trying to lift the injured lad he felt a shudder from the boy and saw him breathe his last. He gently lowered the dead boy on the ground and a wave of shock and regret passed through him that he couldn’t save the poor boy.

As the client stood there looking down on the boy thinking of what to do next he heard a scream of pain and anguish. He looked up and saw an old lady shouting and screaming and crying for help. Before he could even react he saw some villagers come running to her and ask her what happened. She, crying out loudly and pointing to the client, told them that he had killed her son. He was shocked to hear this allegation and holding his hands out to them told them that some other men were beating the boy and he had only rushed to help him. However the mother of the dead boy told the villagers that she saw the client killing her son.

The villagers paying no heed to the pleadings of the client grabbed him and dragged him to the chaupal (center part of the village where all the meetings of the village heads take place). There more villagers were waiting and all of them together began to beat him. All his cries and pleadings of innocence were drowned in the cacophony of screams and abuses of the villagers.

While being beaten he looked up and around and saw the mother of the dead boy standing at a distance in her black female robes with an expression of hatred and a kind of satanic satisfaction on her face. Looking into her eyes the client realised that she is his mother in his present life. At that time the villagers broke his right leg and began to stomp on it mercilessly. He cried out loudly in pain, looked at that mother and vowed to take revenge someday. He died soon after due to the injuries.

Learning: The client’s mother in the present birth is the same woman who had falsely accused him in the past life. The client was born with congenital birth defects and now walks with an artificial right leg. He has learned that when we take a vow, we become bound to the other person and must repeatedly take birth with them until the vow is broken. He also realised that the only way to break this chain is to forgive others, accept the situation and radiate only love and compassion towards all. Those who hurt us the most have taken on difficult roles to help us evolve spiritually.
